If you do not maintain certification through NBCOT, you may only sign your name with OT or OTA as you will no longer be able to use the titles OTR or COTA.  Be aware that some state(s) or employers may require that you maintain NBCOT certification.

Remember that regardless of your certification status with NBCOT, you must hold a current, unexpired Texas license from the Texas Board of Occupational Therapy Examiners (and the current status of the license and the expiration date must appear on the Board’s License Verification page) to practice occupational therapy in any way or to represent yourself as an occupational therapist or occupational therapy assistant in Texas.
